Hi everybody!

09/09/09 was a wonderful day for me because we had a special event at my school.

The event was the Car and Bike Expo. We saw lots of different cars and bikes and we also bought raffle tickets for good prizes such as petrol vouchers and movie tickets.

Then the firefighters showed us how they can save or take people out of a car when an accident happens. They demonstrated how to use 'the jaws of life'. Actually, it was amazing!

Later, we got some gifts such as a bag, a newspaper etc. After that we went back to class. In the afternoon we had a visitor from the Anti-discrimination department who explained to us about some discrimination and how we can get help when we meet with that problem.

The boy was very young only eight and intelligent,he took the phone went up into the attick of his room because he knew the house very well. The gang had no idea what the boy was doing. Then the boy started to walk in the attick but very slowly and tried to call the police ,it was hard for him to explain to the police what was going on and to give the adress to the police. He only told the police that his father and his sister had been caught by a gang but the police didn't understand well what that boy wanted to tell them. The boy kept calling them and the police tried t find the adress using the computer. It took quite a long time to get the adress. When the gang came into the boy's room didn't find him then they started to search for him.The police took car and come to that place.
When the police got there they had no idea because the boy didn't explain well what the probrem was but they kept talking to him. the boss of the police sent some police with guns into the house. When they entered ,the gang men realised the police were coming and they started to shoot at them.It was a big fight. Most of the police died but the rich man and his doughter were still locked in different rooms. When the police sent another group, they tried to kill the gang and rescued the family, but they didn't find the boy.Thirty minutes later when the boy didn't hear any gun noise,he tried to come out of the attick and the boss of the police told him ''you're hero because you rescue your family''.

Aussie helpers

Last week we had the health expo in our college. Some student interviewed Sue Martin, who is an Aussie helper volunteer, about what they do. She explained to them about some questions such as what an Aussie helper is.

Aussie Helpers is a group of volunteers who help collect food and money to help poor farmers who live in the bush because they haven't got good crops and have had long periods of drought or floods and bushfires and also depression is a big problem and she told them about the outback, which means the bush, where these farmers live. Some farmers live very far away and some of them are proud and don't ask for help. The volunteers hear from other people. She called this the grapevine or bush telegraph, which is like a gossip chain.

HEALTH EXPO

Yesterday we had a health expo at our college. There were many stalls, such as the Red cross, asthma, the cancer council, blood pressure, alcohol and drugs.

Our class was helping. Some of my classmates sold the food while others gave information to people who came into the expo, but my job was to sell the raffle tickets. It was an interesting job for me because I practised my English with the customers. After that Nunung and I made an interview with the Asthma council and alcohol stall holder.

Excursions

Last Tuesday we went to the Chinese Garden and the Aquarium in Darling Harbour, Sydney. The first thing we did when we visited the Chinese Garden was to see the beautiful trees and some animals such as birds and lizards.

Then we visited the Aquarium where we saw many fish (little and big fish) like sharks and I saw a big crocodile. It was amazing because it was my first time to visit the Aquarium. After that we had lunch with my classmates and with our teacher. We had it at the Darling Harbour shopping centre opposite the Aquarium. We had a good time there because we were talking to each other in English.

My Easter holiday

Winston M. Yang Wyp

Let me tell you about my holiday. It was good because I went to Alladula which is in the country. It was an Easter camp for my church group. We had a good time there because we were many people, about 150 people. We had many activities all day.

In the morning we read the bible and had some talks. Then in the afternoon we played some games, like soccer, tennis, basketball for young people and we stayed there for four days. It was a wonderful holiday because I made many friends.
In the evening we had dinner together and we had a great time talking with other people. When the holiday finished no one wanted to go back home.
